Clover VDI: General Questions
Clover VDI is a private-cloud platform for creating and delivering hands-on virtual IT labs. It organizes users, groups, VM and Docker templates, lab deployment, browser access, collaboration and contextual AI assistance.
Clover VDI is installed with Docker on a Windows or Ubuntu host. After installation, open the local address and port shown by the installer, sign in, change the default administrator password and connect at least one supported infrastructure platform.
Clover VDI can use Proxmox or OpenStack for virtual-machine labs and Kubernetes for container-based labs. Configure at least one of these platforms before creating production lab templates.
Yes. VM templates are appropriate for complete Windows or Linux environments, while Docker templates are useful for efficient application and command-line exercises on Kubernetes.
Learners open My Labs, select an assigned group and template, then create and start the lab when permitted. Display opens the access methods configured for that template, such as terminal or application access.
Yes. Administrators can configure LTI 1.3 integration for compatible learning platforms. The documentation includes workflows for Moodle, Canvas, Brightspace, Open edX and Sakai.
An administrator or instructor imports supported files for a group. Clover VDI uses retrieval-augmented generation with Qdrant to retrieve relevant group knowledge and provide contextual answers in My Labs.
Yes. A running lab can be shared in Read Only or Read & Write mode. The recipient opens My Labs, selects Shared Labs and uses the Open icon to enter the shared environment with the assigned permission.
Plans, Licensing and Support
Yes. The downloadable edition includes a limited number of users so you can install and evaluate Clover VDI. Check the current download and plan information for the limits that apply to the available release.
Choose a paid plan when your deployment needs more users or capacity than the free edition provides. Select the plan that matches your expected number of users and deployment requirements.
An administrator activates the license from License Settings using the license information provided for the deployment. Licensing and other global settings are not instructor permissions.
No. Instructors can manage templates, groups, group knowledge and learner virtual labs, but infrastructure settings, LMS settings, user administration and license activation remain administrator responsibilities.
